Our congregation is led by The Reverend Michael Bye, interim priest-in-charge.
Raised in Raleigh, North Carolina, and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Fr. Bye was ordained to the priesthood in the Diocese of Virginia in 1972. His ministry began in service to urban and small town congregations in the Dioceses of Virginia, Central Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, and North Carolina. In 2015, Fr. Bye retired from Calvary Episcopal Church in Wadesboro, North Carolina, and moved to his family home on Myrtle Beach.
In retirement, Fr. Bye has continued to serve The Episcopal Church as supply clergy, leading worship twice a month for the past two years with The Episcopal Worship Group of Cheraw, which includes the faithful Episcopalians who returned to their church home at St. David’s Episcopal Church in August 2022. In that month, The Rt. Reverend Ruth Woodliff-Stanley, bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of South Carolina, called Fr. Bye to serve as interim priest-in-charge of St. David’s through the remainder of 2022.
